After saving the Princess, the Island of Slimes disappears and is replaced by this island shaped like a cat. In the Standard Modes, Cat Island is only accessible if Jenk left the artifacts behind on Slime Island and did not retrieve them from Jagaimo Castle before sailing. Cat Island is replaced by Desert Island once Jenk has the artifacts in his possession.
On all Hard Modes, Cat Island is always available as the Temple of Silence is sealed and Jenk cannot reach the Desert Islands.
This island serves no other purpose but to indicate that Jenk can't find his way. There are two sub-areas on the island, but they just contain cats that "speak" in katakana.
"Nyan" is an onomatopoeia for how cats sound.
